Topic: 1968 C code 289 PVC lable

  We lost a point due to the fact that our C code 289 did not have a label on the PCV. I have not seen one on a small block. Were they used on them? If so what did they look like? Build date 7-16-68

Round ring label that goes over the nipple where the hose connects. There has been some discussion if they were used on assembly line valves or only on NOS/service units

Osborn has sold them for year - another likely influence.

Likely not your application (sorry didn't look it up) but an example of one such label

It is a small donut shaped flat thin ring that is white with red letters and numbers. I know that they came on most BB but haven't seen any first hand on a survivor SB. If they were used on the BB it is reasonable to think that there is a good possibility that they were also used on the SB at least sometimes. I have some NOS C6AE PCV valves in the box($65 shipped-PM if needed ) for 66-68 289 and they all have the rings included in the box.

We've seen them on survivor/unrestored 65-66 small block and 6 cyl cars.  There are several variations, obviously you wouldn't want one that has a part number with a trailing 'Z' as that would designate a service replacement.

I checked in Virginia Classic & NPD catalogues and found that they offer no PCV valve tags for 68 small blocks.
