INNER SEAT HINGE COVER
« on: August 10, 2013, 11:59:23 PM »
I think I'm jinxed.  I'm trying to finish my 1964.5 convertible by next weekend.  Finished carpet today.  ready to install seats, 1/4 panels, and door panels.  I ordered a set of "64-7 seat Hinge Covers Neutral."  Guess what?  They don't fit!  Here's a picture comparing the right Ford cover (#C4ZB-6561693-AW  3).
Notice the difference in the attached photo.  Can't seem to locate the right one unless someone knows something I don't.

I think it's one of those unique 64.5 parts.  65-67's are as shown in the package.
1965 Dearborn Mustang Coupe
Raven Black - Palomino Pony
1967 Dearborn Mustang Conv.
Wimbeldon White - Red
1984 SVO - 2A

Did you keep both originals?

As already stated, another unique feature of the early mustangs. The part is not repo'd for the early cars.

Now I feel really dumb.  I found the part on eBay used and the seller wanted $45.00.  I thought that I'd look through about 8 boxes of Mustang parts before buying it.  Didn't find it.  My last place to look was in my to do box.  Only supposed to have door parts in it.  Well, at the bottom of the box was my missing hinge cover. I usually don't throw anything away particularly if it is "Mustang". The part had a big split radiating from the screw hole.   So now I'll fix it and be done with it!  You're right though.  This part is unique to the 1964.5 Mustang.  Another indication of the year of the car.

I wonder if you took a vinyl repair kit and filled and re-drilled the holes  if you could make those work?

I thought about that but upon closer inspection of Drake parts the center, on the back, needs to form a receptacle for the hinge pin.  It would have to be ground off and reformed.  Luckily I found the missing one, repaired it, painted it and it's installed.  Looks like new.  In a pinch though it would  work.  Thanks.

They did not identify  the part number, but when I filled out their "contact form". I used #C4ZB-6561693-AW.  Then I learned this part number means it is for the driver's side seat.  The passenger seat takes part #C4ZB-6561692-AW.  This link will take you to an eBay seller who has several for sale:http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-1-2-64-5-64-1-2-Mustang-Bucket-Seat-Side-Hinge-Trim-Piece-Inner-RH-Standard-/130682744726?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AMustang&hash=item1e6d4c6f96&vxp=mtr.

They are all for the passenger seat.  Didn't check for the driver's side.

Just noticed your post, I have 2 right side covers with the offset screw
hole but sounds like you are set, good to hear you were able to repair yours.
