Passing gear linkage
« on: August 06, 2013, 01:16:43 PM »
Trying to find out if anyone knows if a Jan 66 SJ built coupe should have linkage to the Carb from the C4 trans for a passing gear.  Has a 289, 2v and C4 auto.  Any info will help.  Thanks.

the accelerator rod has a link pointing downward which connects to a cable which connects to the kickdown lever on the trans.

Thank you sir,
This car seems to be missing all of of the passing gear linkage to the trans.  Do you or anyone have a picture of what it looks like?  Thanks.

sorry i don't have any pics but the factory shop manual has some good illustrations of that area. you may also try a google search for 'C-4 kickdown'.

You should have the cable setup on yours, early 65's used
a rod but your 66 would have the cable setup like pictured.
Your accel bellcrank should have a arm that points down,
the cable hooks onto it, other end of the cable hooks onto
the small lever on the side of the trans.

You all are great.  Thanks again for the info.  I found out that the car has the linkage minus the cable which attaches to the trans.  Should be able to locate that and get it hooked up.  Thanks again.
