Tie Rod Adjusting Sleeves
« on: July 29, 2009, 12:57:35 PM »
What is the finish on the tie rod adjusting sleeve and nuts/bolts. Was thinking phosphate would be OK on the sleeve? Thanks

They should be bare steel but dark heat treated line all the other steering stuff. If your really doing phosphate the finish will be a bit flat but if you oil them they might smooth out and darken . Originally a not darker and smooth than phosphate - in look

The replacements were darker than the originals.  almost a blued coating.  originals on the car were a lighter being stamped and rolled steel.  Not really that dark in my opinion. Phosphating is a great way to help them maintain.
