Thanks for posting updates, hopefully the last jet change will remedy your issues.

On the snorkel, how was the flapper stuck?  From paint/gunk or the spring was broken/stretched?

I guess we need to add "that" to the list of reasons. Your findings also put a red face on a lot of us, including me. On the other hand, all three of my current Mustangs have the open type chrome air cleaner so I don't have a snorkel, and when I do clean-up (a word used in lieu of "restore") one, I adjust the flap valve wide open eliminating the preheater. Hey, it's California where I am.

was the thermostat inside still good??

The flapper moves freely, the rod moves when you move the flapper, both springs are in place (and in good shape).  Everything looks to be in really nice shape visually but the rod doesn't appear to move at all when heat is applied to the unit.  So it appears that the thermostat itself is not functioning.  As far as I'm aware the only option I have is to try to track down another snorkel with a functioning thermostat.  Thoughts?

Adjust the flap so that it has about a 1/2 inch gap to get preheated air. Then drive the car until it's hot and check the flap again. If it's all the way down, it may just be "touchy". If no change, then do like I said, adjust the flap wide open.
