Right engine casting numbers for 390?

Hi,  new guy here.  Recently purchased a 1967 GTA S code fastback built in Metuchin in January of 67.  No drive train, looking for the correct engine.  Been doing some research, but could use some help.  What casting numbers should I be looking for on the block, headers, and manifolds?  Seems like up to 6 month prior would be OK, but I've also heard should be within 2 months for date code.  Also, the third letter of the casting number is confusing me, should it be "Z" for mustang or is other designator s OK?  I passed up an "M" the other day.  Also, my understanding is that the GT exhaust manifolds and Headers are unique, but the block is the shared with non-GT.  Any help appreciated!  I'm not doing a concours resto but I'd like to be right with the engine.

Exhaust manifolds were likely C7AE version by your cars date

Block was likely IMHO a C6ME block but date code would guide you to the right match between casting and time period> FE engines are a pain if together to determine what they are since so many industrial, truck and passenger cars shared the same casting molds

Especially on drive train items forget about much being originally designed for the Mustang as must originally came from other lines and was shared with the Cougar/Mustang line

No headers used - only cast iron exhaust manifolds. "Unique"? - design shared with tens of thousands of Fairlanes, Cougars, Mustangs, Shelby's, Ranchero's that used the same manifolds. The manifolds had nothing to do with the GT package though Ford used the designation GT to identify the 4V 390s installed in the cars listed above to get around the tight engine compartment of those cars. Heat shields are the trick part since every year is different
