68 felt trunk mat
« on: June 24, 2013, 09:42:25 PM »
I all ways thought the grey felt trunk mats were service replacements, but I have seen several in 68 unrestored cars. I have not seen any in 67s. Does anyone know why these felt mats were used?

Seen a number of them in otherwise untouched cars - majority or all from eastern factories. See's that either Ford didn't provide very tight/specific engineering requirements or had a supply problems - using these as a filler. Never found a part or engineering number on one nor packaged as a service replacement. Have seen one or two in a very dark - almost black color also (recall in a 68 Shelby conv at Mid America and SAAC a few years back

Just a guess at this point

Jeff the unrestored maroon 68 SJ car at Reno had one of the near black ones. It is hard to figure out.
Thanks Marty
