Topic: paint for cast alumium transmission case

Has anyone had good results painting cast aluminum (trans Case and tail shaft) ?  Need  to freshen the looks and looking for a product that both looks like virgin cast alloy as well as something that will stand the test of time.  Thanks for sharing your experience.

My experience is you can't have your cake and eat it too  . The non smudge aluminum paints like eastwoods Aluma blast give a decent look and will not smudge like a lot of aluminum paints but standing up to the to test of time is too much to expect from most spray can products . chemicals, heat, scratching will all take it's toll on the paint surface. It does touch up reasonably well but you can do the same thing with some brake clean or similar on cast aluminum to clean off a smudge. In the end I restore the aluminum surface and seal that with a clear product (Eastwoods for aluminum wheels etc. )  and clean off with steam cleaner ,power washer or solvent if it gets dirty. The boeshield product will also work on aluminum and keep the surface from oxidizing.
