69 Dearborn Mach 1 Heater Motor Ground
« on: May 03, 2013, 11:13:18 AM »
Does any one have a photo of the correct location to mount the ground for the heater motor and what the correct fastener is for the ground.

Thanks

Thanks Jeff. The puzzling thing on my car is that I can find no evidence of a hole in that location. I will look again tonight but based on previous inspections, there is no evidence of a hole that has since been filled.

I just asked this same question on the boss forum earlier this week. On my May 70 Dearborn Boss 2, the 3 dimples under the hinge, where one is normally drilled for the ground screw, none were drilled. Also after  stripping all of the metal, there was no sign of anything being filled. I did find a 3/16" hole about 6" below the hinge.

I wonder if they ever just drilled a hole in the general area.

Hmm - panel has a good date on it and that inner panel hasn't been replaced?

Now focusing on  your cars specific time period to see if there was  change taking place - or an odd worker that choose to attach it elsewhere I found

Attached in the same general location

Appears to be traveling in the other direction but the example is a "restored car"

Sorry no matches - also too early to check Boss's and Shelbys will not help much :(

Jeff:

After spending more time searching in the area of the photo, it looks like the hole has been welded and filled, but there is evidence it is there.

Thanks for the photo.

Same here and found it.

As it turns out the hole was where it should have been and between engine bay paint and  some sound deadner under the wheel well it filed up. A little poking with an awl  where the dimples ate revealed the hole.
