Correct fuel pump- '65 T code

Late '65 (June) San Jose car- this AC (I presume) fuel pump was on the car when I bought it in 1985. Should I have the Carter? Does anyone have a pic of the correct pump?

Yeah, I know, needs cleaned up, even for a daily driver.

I have the exact same pump on my 65 289 C Code. From what I am finding out they are hard to come by even as an aftermarket part. I even tried looking for a service kit for mine with no luck.

I have seen that style and also the style with the crimped on sheet metal bottom section and of course ether would have a FOMOCO fuel canister. Fortunately the canisters are reproduced now. I don't profess to know much about them but just ended up with some NOS pumps in parts trades. If you figure out which style I have ether style NOS at a real cheap price. I would put a price here but this is the wrong place. PM me if interested.

Believe AC was the Primary Supplier of Fuel Pumps to Ford for the I6 engine....in '65-'66.  I don't think that the "Crimped style (Carter)" I6 Fuel Pumps showed up (from what I've ever seen) until '67 on I6 engines..  If the Carter I6 Fuel Pumps were used before '67, This would be the first that I've ever heard about it...

If there's a '65-'66 Assembly line pic out there somewhere of a Carter Fuel I6 pump (Crimped style) installed in a '64 1/2 to '66 Mustang, I'd love to see it.

AC and Carter both were definitely the suppliers of V8 Fuel Pumps to Ford though in 1964 1/2 to 1966.

After '66, I think Ford went solely to Carter for V8 Fuel pumps... I don't see why the 6cyl. would be any different...

I have always used a tool that looks like a miniature oil filter removal tool . I got it at the auto parts store. It is a round shaped metal strap with a lever that tightens up as the lever is depressed.You turn the filter after the metal strap is tightened on the filter can. I have lined mine with thin rubber so that it will not slide and scar up a otherwise nice paint on the filter can.

Someone else will have to provide a ruling . I haven't messed with a lot 6 cyl . My earlier comment in reply #2 was not meant to infer a factory usage but that I had just seen both in use in the real world, which is why I said "If you figure out which style I have ether style NOS at a real cheap price." The only AC fuelpump application that I am 100% for sure of that was factory Ford in 1965 was for various FE appications. Maybe there were others.
