Topic: 69 SUPER COBRA JET WITH 4 WHEEL DRUM BRAKES?

Today I documented a 69 super cobra jet born 11-1-68.  The car has 4 wheel drum brakes and a W code axle.  The Marti report does not list disc brakes as  standard equipment on a mach 1.  Is this information correct?  Please advise, thank you very much for your assistance, gentlemen, and ladies.

Front disk brakes were an option on a Mach 1.

Drum front brakes were  very popular with the drag race set in the 60=70's since they had less drag

Yes have seen drum brake 69 Mach I's .. but not often

And less weight up front

In 69/70 drum brakes were seen a lot on muscle cars because of cost and disc where still a 'new' tech item folks did not worry about

Had lots of muscle cars with drums all way round........makes you a better driver in the rain
