Topic: Carchaeology 101 - '68 X code diff markings

Dearborn, May 17, 68 build date, X code/C6 coupe, 2.75 open rear.

A few markings coming to light, unsure if they make any sense.

Looks like a "2" and some other drip/squiggle below it, white-ish. (upper right of pic)



Maybe an "H" (on its side) and something looking like a small "V" in the square above.  Again whiteish H and maybe orange/red V.




Some black that does not appear to be grime, but doesn't make much sense.   (?) 9....



Any of this look remotely sensible...?

Hmmmm.... woulda thought someone had seen similar markings on a diff...

The number on the top is pretty typical... normally see a number (during 67-69) there as well as one on the passenger side between the middle ribs. Best guess that it identified an assembler and someone else

The bottom markings of a 69 9 inch of ones similar to yours appear to be a series of certain letters and numbers in white or yellow.Have not discovered a pattern to identify their purpose or what they relate to.

This pattern is seen in some of 67 nine inch examples and continued into 69
