200ci 6cyl Carburetor Spacer Mounting Hardware
« on: April 06, 2013, 11:34:52 AM »
I'm re-assembling the 200ci 6cyl engine from my 66 Mustang Coupe after a rebuild and paint, and have a question. Does the carb spacer that is mounted to the intake manifold/head assembly get fastened to it with 5/16" bolts or do studs/nuts get used, like the carburetor mounts to the spacer? The MPC shows 3/8" studs, washers, and nuts, but the parts numbers indicate the wrong size. The holes in the intake manifold are 5/16"- 18. I'm confused and I don't have the original hardware. Please advise and thanks for your time.

On my 6cylinder I had two bolts that secured the spacer to the manifold, they were 5/16-18 and 1 " long, no locking. Then there was a stud that screwed into the aluminum spacer to attached the carburetor. The stud was an 1 1/4 long with 5/16-18 threads into the spacer and 5/16 -24 thread through the carb with a nut to secure carb to the spacer, the nut was not a full size more like a jam nut.

Thanks for the reply, Dave. Like you stated, I'll use 5/16"-18 x 1" bolts to fasten the spacer to the manifold. I have the correct studs mounted into the spacer already to mount the carb, along with the thin carb nuts. Thanks again for your help.
