69 vinyl top
« on: March 16, 2013, 01:31:52 PM »
Guys, I`m restoring a 69 coupe for a friend and his car came with a vinyl top. The top is long gone and the drip rail chrome is gone also.
My question is are the drip rail moldings the same as a non vinyl top car, or are they different?
What also makes this a chore more than most is its an SJ car and I`m in the snowbelt of
Ohio, no examples here!
Would anyone have a few pics they can share?
Thanks,
John

Different - they carry different paint numbers but sorry don't ahve any to compare side by side

here are a few - don't normally focus on vinyl roof details (though I do take pictures of the A pillar brand/nail at times ;)

Hope these help

The MPC list different part numbers for non- vinyl tops (drip rails) and vinyl top coupes so I assume that there is a difference

They are slightly bigger to fit over the top material as Jeff pointed out.  I have seen a few sets on Ebay in the past and advertised for sale on a few forums.  Not resent though.  you aught to check the want adds over on the 1969stang web sight also.  A lot of 69 coupe owners hang out there.   Good luck!
