original TRICO '66 windshield wipers
« on: March 12, 2013, 12:26:23 PM »
I have a set with the TRICO under the arm itself, but not on the metal blades.  Did original blades have the TRICO inscription on them as well as the arms?  They are the correct length and shape but without the logo.

Originals look exactly like pictured above.  The repros have TRICO on them also, and they are pretty damn good! - But they must have also been made by TRICO.... Other companies make repro blades... Only TRICO Blades have TRICO on them.. Original TRICO, and Repro TRICO.

OK, We vhave established that the originals have TRICO on them.

I wasn't aware that any repros had TRICO on them.

I do know that '65s are polished stainless, and good originals are hard to find.

I do know that the '66s are a dull aluminum finish and were done because original owners of '65s complained about glare.

Yeah, I have a couple pairs of the repro ones which are actually still made by TRICO today...and they have the original TRICO stamp on them...No lie... I got them off Ebay.. They call them the TRICO "Classic" series.

Do the early 64-65 ones that were polished stainless have "Made in USA" on them or just the word TRICO?

Hey Chris,
Looked at my July 65 coupe and they are polished but only say "TRICO". Hmmmm. Maybe someone else can add to this.

Here are some shots of a factory original from January '65-Dearborn.  They have the "Trico  Made in USA" on each end of the blade as well as the other writing where it attaches to the arm "3056160 Can. 63"  Maybe a Canadian number of some sort...

Nice pictures.  Here's what is on my car but no idea if they are original? I'll have to check for a number where yours is located.

By the way, I rode the Skyway!  ;D

Gary, you may want to do a little research on the correct style wipers.

I have collected quite a few wipers over the years and have them
marked with the VIN of the car they came off of. In going through
them the bright shiny ones that just have "TRICO" stamped on
them as shown in "rodster"s picture all came off of 65's.

Have a few off of 66's that look the same but have a dull finish.
Have a pair off a 68 that are a dull finish but are shaped a little
different, not as flat as the 66 style and have "Trico made in usa" stamp.

Maybe one of the head judges will chime in with their thoughts on this.

Here's my original Trico wiper, June 64 Dearborn. It has just plain TRICO on either end of the wiper. Also has the pat pending numbers at the mounting location in the center.

I notice mine have a little rectangle cut out that the others don't?  Have you seen any like that in your collection C5ZZ?

I looked at them, most do have the slot but a few don't.
The slot is only on one end, the end that would sweep
the top of the winshield.

Steve--Good point.

When my car came back from the New York World's Fair after being used on the Magic Skyway in the late fall of '65 it was refurbished at Carron and Company in Inkster, MI.  Among the things that were done at the time was addition of a '66 AM/8 track, '66 wheels and tires, '66 hub caps and a few other oddities.  So, the point is, perhaps the wipers were replaced at the same time too-using '66 parts.

Thanks for pointing that out.  ;)
