Installation of the door glass looks like it is a nightmare... I'm dreading it! Will the process be any better if I:

A) First install the door handle and lock mechanism, then the glass?
 -or-
B) Glass & regulator first, then install the handle and lock/latch mechanism afterwards?

Think it thru - with the window mechanism installed, can you reach all the door items? Now think it thru the other way, with the door items in place can you install the windows? Start with the weatherstrip, then all the door stuff, then the window crank mechanism, the vent window and the rest. It should work fine.

Door handle/latch/pull setup first, then window parts.

+1  Do the door latch and the other pieces much earlier just to hold the door shut and get the door adjusted.

Don't do them often enough to recall every step - Do recall putting the regulator in the door but laying it out of the way in the bottom while I install the window and such a number of times in the past.

There are real good procedural instructions in the Ford service manual.

For cars that have had the doors removed, I like to load up the doors completely, except for door panels to get all the weight in when doing adjustments.  I usually leave off the rubber weather-strip until after adjustment is done.  I also like to have the engine/trans in and most of the car assembled and sitting back on all 4 tires on the ground.  Just helps to be sure nothing tweaks or changes once the weight is loaded on from parts.

When it comes to the glass, before you slide it into the door, it is a good idea to place a folded over peice of cardboard inside the door.  This would be to prevent a dent-out if the glass slips out of your hand and falls to the bottom.  How would I know this???
