64 1/2 Dash Pad Frame Extension
« on: February 07, 2013, 02:50:41 AM »
looking for comments on early 64 1/2 screw on Dash pad frame extension, when I removed it, it exposed bare metal underneath, so it was installed before the car was painted, since my intention is concours, should I not primer/paint before hand, like the factory did?

Regards,
Dom

Since this is an item that would never be seen once the dash pad is installed, I would lean from the preservation side and put at least a coat of epoxy primer on both the car and dash extensions before attaching.

Hey Dom,

Don't mean to Hi-Jack, but did you happen to weigh your body assembly before it was put on the rotisserie?

Hey Brian,

No I didn't, I've loaned the rotisserie from another Mustang restorer who's had about 9 cars on there, the rotisserie was fabricated (prob back in the '80's) by FabTech in Tulsa Oklahoma...
Is is best to weigh them?

Dom

I wasn't asking the weight for any other reason than to "JUST KNOW."  I would guess it is in the 700# range so a pretty weak rotisserie would hold it up just fine.
