Depends on what part of the car we're looking at ;)  and not so "unusual" just how production patterns turn up. I was seeing if my guess as to plant and time period was correct just based on the floor color - hoping that the picture on my monitor was fairly true to what you would see in person.

Guess my guess was pretty good this time ;)

You raise an interesting point Jeff, my mate Troy (rusty nuts) who owns the car said yesterday that it didn't look as red as others he's seen...
Does the oxide fade over time or were there different strengths of red used by different plants, I never thought anything of it...

Primer - at the end of a working week, or when the different paint drums were close to empty, that drum was poured into the primer drum. That's the difference in primer colors. Ford was, and still is, a stodgy automobile manfacturing company, very conserative (at least in the cost department).

Sorry missed this one the other day. Yes the "primer" can fade due to the elements, chemicals (oil, grease...)  and other stuff thrown up from the road ways. If you clean a section of the floor pan of the top coat of oxidation and other stuff the under lying finish is normally slightly different, smoother and glossier in my experience

Suppliers were different from plant to plant often and there was not a real need to match the "right color" unlike the exterior colors so yes the colors vary but they (time periods certain tones were used) can be identified and normally fall into patterns - most that have been identified at San Jose.
