Item ID
« on: January 04, 2013, 02:00:00 PM »
This was in a pile of parts in a dismantled 69 grande.  Looks like a throttle cable bracket, but not the same as the one on my 69 428 or 70 cars.  Is this even a mustang part?

Index bracket for the power steering pump

Keeps the high pressure hoses correction orientated to the rest of the parts- exhaust, pump case ....

Next step would be to identify what it came off of - would guess there are 50+ of different shapes and car applications. If I recall correctly no part/engineering  numbers to help with the search

Well there is no information about the Grande (or any other car) in your signature or this thread so no way of telling :(

IF if happens to be a 351 Windsor from 69 then I think we have a winner

an example of said ps hose index bracket

Perfect!  With the square knockout I was a little confused where it was supposed to go.  Thanks!  (I finally updated my profile too...thanks for the nudge.  ;) )

I really need to brush up on part interchange as I tried to install the bracket and learned that I had restored a 1970 unit, with the offset and larger pressure line.  And it also uses the steel bracket rather than the aluminum.  Sigh.  1969 parts coming...anyone know if the 1970 pump and flat steel bracket are worth much?  They are rebuilt and restored...curious before I list them for sale.  Its the D0OR-B pulley, 70 pump, and 70 adjusting bracket.

Oh well...more practice on rebuilding and painting pumps.  :)

Not sure what your using for a reference (generic wrecking yard interchange will not do) but the picture I posted of the full pump and bracket are from a 69 351 Windsor - aluminum carrier (steel front adjusting bracket, correct offset and other details if your looking to compare something to what you have or need

I was going off of memory, thats the problem...that and anxious mustang dismantler's that told me the parts were 69 351 parts....I knew the pulley wasnt but thought, hey...its a 351w and a lot of 69/70 stuff interchange.  sigh.  I am not going to numbers on this car (thankfully) as I spent 11 years chasing date codes for my 428scj car.

I picked up the 69 parts last night using your photo to confirm...looking forward to them arriving - then rebuilding and painting another one!  :)

Thanks Jeff!
