Chairman of the judging committee for MCA.  Congrats to her.  Definitely well deserved.

No, there has been a judging committee since at least 2002 when I first came on the BOD. I've been on the committee since 2007.  We are going to become much more active this year as the liaison between the BOD and the judges.  Also, for the first time the committee consists of the head judges plus all the assistant head judges, although other than Shorty Brown (who also is a member of the BOD) it is in a nonvoting capacity.

Anything to improve the interaction of the MCA BOD and the judging community is a good thing.  Judging is a huge part of MCA and needs to be high on the priority list.

FYI, I'm an MCA regional director, so I actually do have voting rights.  Shorty had my proxy vote for this past weekends' BOD meeting.  I believe Billy Henson is also a regional director, he is one of the ANHJ's.

I'm all for that, too!  Shorty and I will be doing a conference call sometime in the next two weeks to go over a number of things we'd like to implement.

Yes, Regional Directors can vote when a motion comes up before the BOD, but they don't have voting rights on committees.  Also, you only get one vote, so since Billy is now on the BOD, he has assigned his RD position to another member of his club so they won't lose it.  I had to do the same thing when I first was elected.

So who in the committee gets a vote?

Sure we are all excited to hear all the details ;)

Just Shorty and I right now, although I believe in uneven numbers for committees to break ties so I'm going to ask Jim Keenan to join as he also is a current board member and judge.  I really don't expect any major difficulties with this committee, but it's still best to be able to break a tie vote.
