NOS fuel sending unit $850.00 ?
« on: November 17, 2012, 02:28:49 PM »
Its on ebay now item # 251180653244

I just can't see $850 for it when it looks to me
like its a used original. Looks to have pitting on
the outer face and evidence of the fuel hose on it.
If indeed was unused NOS still seems very pricey!
Also surprized considering the seller.

Hard to imagine the project requiring this part at that price.   Brian

I'm not trying to justify the price, but this is a very tough piece to find in new condition.

Nice thing IMHO is that (as a owner) you can ask what ever you want for something - the market (and others) will be the ones who decide what the part is worth.

As mentioned before NOS does not always mean perfect (unfortunately) and allot of the condition can be the results of how the piece was stored.

Bottom line is watch the auction and see if someone else decides its with the asking price ;)  Would not be the first time I was surprised at what others will spend when its their dollars as always time will tell

One thing I thing I've overlooked in the past (need to look at the ones I've got) is the date on the part as shown in the last picture (D4)

Yep, seen date codes on most all of the ones I was sure were factory-installed.  Neat detail, but gets covered with the locking ring.

While I would never question the integrity of the seller, there is certainly no finer shop I the business; I have to question that this is NOS.  It definitely appears to have been previously installed.  You can clearly see the marks from the gasket, and the fuel line.  At least twice in the past I have bought "NOS" parts only to find on close inspection, that they were actually used take off parts put back into the box the replacement parts came out of.  In both cases it was an unintentional mistake and I received full refunds.  After years sitting on a shelf no-one knew what was actually in the box.  Without a very close inspection by a knowledgeable person, it is often hard to tell if a part has been previously installed.

I sent an inquiry to the seller through ebay asking that perhaps it's not nos because of the gasket & fuel line markings, had no reply.
Thought that no reply was unusual for the seller.
