Picture Request for 69 Shelby Details
« on: November 12, 2012, 08:07:52 PM »
................. Can you post any more photos showing the front part of the fender and headlamp bucket and also photos of the wheelhousing, namely firewall area. Finally one from the front showing the whole grille would be greatly appreciated.
VikingNJ :) :)

Front wheelwell - rear section at firewall/cowl.

What we expect to see is heavy spray on seam sealer along the main seams  then color (primer then body color) over that. No sound deadener was applied like on other years and on Mustangs since there were no fenders to contain the spray installed at the point in the assembly line (Dearborn)

Note rear splash shield is removed in this picture

On this car (next two pictures) the worker skipped the vertical seam You'll notice all three cars have slightly different spray seam sealer applications

Front part of the fender and headlamp bucket

Grill

Hope this fits your needs

i was told by a fellow shelby owner that the grill trim ( race track) was installed with the joint at the top and NOT the btm as you would normally think- correct?  thanks for all the info so far.

Joint at the top is normally accepted but some factory photos seem to contradict that placement.

thanks bob- jeff's pic above of the survivor looks like joint is at the btm but it could be the sun's reflection.

You can tell the joint in a photo because it comes together at a point. The other side that is not a joint is smooth and does not come to a point.
