Window glass fit and alignment
« on: September 25, 2012, 09:21:11 AM »
Hello All

I am seeking some assistance with fixing the fit and alignment of all the side glass in a 66 Coupe.  The current issue I'm having with the door glass is it does not appear to winding up fully and is hard to wind down.  The front end of the glass can be tilted a little higher by hand but doesn't move when rolling up & seems to be catching on something when windup near the top. The scissors have been replaced.

If anyone has some ideas I can try as I am unsure were start.

Did you install new fuzzy pop in strips at the top of the door?  It's common for the door glass frame to catch on the bottom edge of the strips.  Check that first.  Otherwise, you have other adjustment issues or possibly a regulator problem.

Have checked fuzzy's and appear fine, did a few minor adjustments & the window looks a lot better then it did and its just sitting a proud at the top door handle end.
However, the window is still hard to wind up and down, adjusted the window guide at the front of the door several times with some success but try it again a few minutes later and goes back to the way it was.  Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

Disconnect the rollers from the track and manually lift and lower the window. If it is free, then problem is most likely the regulator. They will "grind" a bit when they are wore out and bind intermittently, at least mine did.
