« on: September 10, 2012, 09:26:42 AM »
What is the correct part number for the headlight harness on a late March 65 C code convertible with warning lights?

I'm trying to replicate the wiring harness label, so I'm guessing the part number.  What's left of the original tag is the cCc in an oval, FoMoCo script in an oval, and ???B  14290 ?.

Then your looking for the engineering number not the part number.  Should also be an inspector/assemblers label/tag on it also

OK, then what would the engineering number be?  I didn't find an inspector/assembler tag on this particular harness, just the harness tag on the far right end just below the starter solenoid.

Will see if I can find a loom that matches yours and still has the sticker on it. Wish me luck ;)

Good luck.  I thought it would be noted in the MPC and someone could look it up.

The correct tag should be marked C5ZB-14290-E. This is for all 1965 (not 64 1/2) Mustangs without foglamps. You can buy the tag from most Mustang parts houses.

Hi guys,
Would C5ZZ-14290-D be correct for a Oct 64 with fog lamps?

I may be wrong, but didn't fog lamps get introduced when the GT was introduced in March, 1965?

Depends on your definition of "fog lamps" as Ford through the years offered a dealer installed accessory/option of fog lights but those would have their own separate wire loom.  And yes the GT lights would have been introduced at the same time as the GT option from my understanding though the individual parts to "make your car a GT" would likely have taken some time before they were in the parts system and available to dealership and service centers

As mentioned, there was no factory fog light option for a car built in Oct '64.  The headlight harness is unique with yellow horn wires and round edges on voltage regulator plug.  How correct do you want?  (As previously noted in this thread, C5ZZ is a part number for ordering a replacement part, the actual engineering number label on the harness would be different).

Thanks for the replies. I totally overlooked the availability dates of the lights. Wife really wants them so I am looking to set it up like a dealer option with the separate grey feed wire and separate earth wires. Would this be the correct way to go?

That would be my understanding.  Reproductions are available for this configuration.
