66 Front wheel cylinders
« on: September 09, 2012, 08:58:46 PM »
Did I get a little lucky?

The wheel cylinders i got have the 1/4" bleeders.
Is there a chance they are assymbly-line OEM?

In my brouser I have no RED X to click on in your post

Might be something about the link (from Facebook)  Since I can see the link when I quote your post - just nothing visible in the thread

Was able to cut and past and viewed it that way. Sorry no- originals (I've never seen them) do not have WAGNER nor the other info cast into the body of the wheel cylinders. But of course none of this is visible once the car is together. Might want to keep them until you can "upgrade" ;) Just a thought

I have a pretty specific question.
I have 2 nice front wheel cylinders with the 1/4" bleeders like Mustangs came with from the factory.
I bought 2 NOS brake hoses (Engineering Number C4AZ2078A2).

The inside of the wheel cylinders, where the hose screws in, is 5/8" deep and is NOT made internally to seal with a flared fitting.  The threads of the hoses is only 1/2" long and appears to be tapered inside like a reverse-flare.

My question...Does anyone know if a MAR 66 Metuchen C-Code Car would come with the copper washer (#2149), or would it have had a wheel-cylinder/hose combination that sealed using an internal flare?

Haven't seen a front brake hose application without the copper washer.

Charles,

I was told that in addition to the copper washer, there was a double-tapered BRASS SEAT down inside that actually created the seal to the hose and to the inside of the threaded bore of the wheel cylinder? (Sort of like the replaceable seats in the power steering system)

If that's true, I have never been aware of it.  Do you know anything about that?

That's true of hard brake lines, but I don't think it applies to wheel cylinders and calipers where the brake hose attaches.

Make sure you have good copper washers, that is where it seals.
Had a problem with mine leaking, replaced the copper washers
and that took care of the problem.
