I'm not sure if I'm in the right place for this question so please move it if I'm not. I am restoring the a/c system on my 66 convertible 6 cylinder, build date 11/17/65 Dearborn.
I have an original 6 cylinder compressor and the service valves have the fittings for attaching the a/c gauges on the sides, I also noticed in the factory manual it shows them on the side. So I am assuming they valves are original to the compressor.
The nut on the service valve that screws onto the compressor head has some slight damage and I'm thinking of replacing them. all the replacement ones I've seen have the the fitting on the top and not the side.
I guess my question is two fold first which service valve was put on at the factory, and if it was the service valve with the fitting on the side, would I loose points in the concours driven class if I had ones on it that were on the top?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!!
