Looking for 64.5 Part Numbers
« on: August 26, 2012, 04:01:08 AM »
I have an April 28th-dated 64.5 D code coupe (5F07D) that I'm looking to restore to original condition.  With that, I'm trying to locate the correct and original parts, but have run into problems finding the correct part numbers for the following:

Air cleaner
Valve covers
Radiator
Ignition Coil
Starter
Flex plate
Harmonic balancer

The following are parts I have numbers for, but still need to locate and purchase:

64.5 driver's seat frame
Passenger's seat tracks (non-adjustable; really only need one of the stud cups)
Heads

Details
65A- (Body Code) Hardtop/Standard Interior
X- (Color Code)- Vintage Burgundy
86- (Trim) Black Vinyl with Black Trim
28D- (Date Code) April 28, 1964
13- (DSO Code) New York
1- (Axle Code) 3.00:1
6- (Transmission Code) C-4 Automatic

Mike, the most common Ford parts book was last printed in May 75,
by that time any parts that were obsolete or updated to newer
versions were printed in the book so some original 64 specific parts
may not be in there. I have heard of original print 64 parts books
that are out there but very rare as most dealers throw out the old
version when the new update comes in. I worked at a Ford dealer
in the late 70's and early 80's and that's what we would do.

A great reference item for the engine components is the Bob Mannel Ford Smallblock book:

That should cover most everything except for the radiator, which you should have one with the numbers stamped on the side support (on driver's side of car once attached.)  It would most likely be a C4ZE-8005-Z1, but due to your car being early, might have been another engineering number.  The date format would follow the YMW (Year/Month/Week)  designation, so if your car was made the end of April '64, a reasonable date code would be 4CA, 4CB... or 4DA, 4DB, 4DC...  4DC would mean 3rd week of April '64.

Did some seaching in my Ford parts books for the stationary seat parts and found in the
illustration book the basic part number for the support (cup) and the part number for the stud.

379182-S is the part number for stud

61782 is the basic part number for the support (cup)

The full part number for the support (cup) was not listed but my
guess it would be something like C5ZZ-6561782-A. If it was
also used on another Ford car before the Mustang the number could
be different but the basic number remains the same.

If you would like a picture of the illustration let me know,
I have your e-mail from when we talked before.

I appreciate the help, guys.  I'm new to this site and didn't have notifications enabled, so I didn't see any of your replies until just now
