glass restoration

Can anyone give me ideas on how to get a wiper track mark out of my windshield? The car has all its original glass so I'd prefer restoration over replacement. I tried using a glass restoration kit and dual action but after five hours of polishing it barely made a difference.

The general rule of thumb is if you can drag a fingernail across the scratches and you can "feel" them, the windshield is probably past restoration.

Guess glass scratches and paint scratches ain't much different ;)

There's a lady local to me that does glass buffing, very happy with the results, but it can be costly.  If the scratch is too deep, it won't buff out though.  There might be someone in your area that does glass buffing and repair.  Check with some of the local auto dealerships and see if they might know of someone.  The lady that buffed glass for me mentioned she did work for new car dealerships.

Need to be careful with windshield buffing since it can change the contour or the class making distortion areas when you look through it. That is one of the reasons glass repair places typically will not repair chips that are in the driver line of sight.
