In the group of pictures just above my question, there are pictures of the item I am referring to. It doesn't look like a light socket to me.

The socket has a built-in mercury switch to turn the light on and off when the hood is raised and lowered.

I would be interested in getting that under hood light for the wifes 67 if anyone knows of one.

Anyone selling Alloy Metal products can get you a decent reproduction light. Not 100% concours, but suites a functional need very well.
