Topic: Starter Bolts

Does anyone have a shot of what the head markings should be on the starter bolts or what it should say?  I took mine off and they have JH on them...

The majority of the V8 starter bolts (376587-S8) I have are head marked "E". There was one with a "D" and a lot that have seen enough road time to become illegible.

Not to mention they are 3/8 bolts with 1/2 heads where most 3/8 bolts have 9/16 heads

So next question, how should the starter be painted/restored?  The top portion has some surface rust...what's the proper finish on this?  Thanks

Brown paper gasket underneath the rear metal band, entire unit painted semi gloss black up to partialy painted nose (so as the retain good ground when bolted up.

To add to the picture and the information it offers the starters began being metal stamped with engineering numbers sometime in 67 . Before that they were ink stamped.
