Topic: Correct Radiator

Hi guys I was wondering if anyone could put me on the right track to find a correct radiator for a 66 GT with air-con, and advise me on the correct type of fan (4 or 5 blade) and shoud as well. I'm not sure were to get the best replacment from, or if there are NOS ones available, or recon an old one?

Where and when was the car built?  And what transmission is in the car as well?  This will determine the type of radiator you will need to be on the look out for.  I believe San Jose car radiators typically had the engineering number raise stamped into the top of the radiator top tank.  While the other plants had a tag welded on if I am not mistaken.

Rusty nuts check out the book "Mustang and Ford small block V8 1962-1969". Bob Mannel has done a wonderderful job documenting the diffrent engine changes for each year. Will save you a ton of money on parts. One wrong part pays for the book.

A '66 San Jose radiator would typically have "W-MO" stamped in the top tank and a tag with -Z1 or -Z2 on the passenger side top edge.  The straps that wrap around to the top are rounded at top.  Dearborn radiators are squared

Given the time period when your car may have been built the engineering number may not be imprinted in the top tank (though the WMO and date will be)  but instead on a small brass tag that is/was brazed over the radiator strap on the top of the radiator. We would need to know when your car was likely built (you forgot to post that in the opening post   to be sure which was more common during that period to get it right

In general the tanks are dated about a month or two before the car was built.

The date code is 05K which would make it 5th Oct 65.

Based on other cars I would guess your looking for a radiator dated June to Sept 65
