I have a 69 Mach 1 - its a silver jade car with white interior

regarding the stripe on the side

Which stripe kit is correct for my car ?   Which color of the stripe did the factory put on silver jade cars with white interior ?

gold with white center

red with gold center

black with gold center


69 Mach 1 cars with white interior did they get stripes with white center ?

I will appreciate any help and info so I can make my car correct

Most with that color combo came with the gold w/ white center.  But the original purchaser, if he/she ordered the Mach 1, could have whatever stripe kit he/she wanted on it.

Our '69 Mach 1 has the Acapulco blue exterior w/ black interior, and has the gold w/ white center. This Mach 1 has been in our family 42 years and I know for a fact it's correct....Hope this helps.

Agree - ignore the charts and books as they were simply suggestions. Remember that most cars were sold then built - leaving the owners to wait for the car to arrive so choosing how your car would be built is so much different from the normal car purchase of today

I think I will go with Gold stripes with white center,I think it will look good.

Those 69 mach 1  I have seen at car shows with silver jade paint they have always had black interior and the stripe on those cars have been a black stripe with gold center.

I have not seen any other 69 silver jade mach 1 with white interior besides my own car. I have even search the internet but I have not found this color combo.  Is the color / trim combo rare on my car ??

I agree with Jeff that there are exceptions to the charts, but FYI the chart says black is the only stripe color with Silver Jade, regardless whether interior color is white or black.

Now I am somewhat confused ....  if I shall put Gold / white  center stripe   or   black /gold center  stripe on my car

I dont want to bring my 69 Mach 1 to a car show when I am done with my restoration and somebody walk up to my car and tell me I put the " wrong " type of stripe on my car.

I want to restore my Mustang and make it 100 % correct -  how it was when it came from Ford in 1969.

Yes IMHO your color and interior color combination was less popular than other combinations

Welcome to car showing - no matter what you do your will find an "expect" that will tell you your car is all wrong. Comes with the benefits unfortunately.

Most people I would think - would expect the white and gold stripes as shown on these examples

Do you have any pictures of the car when new - unless you have that or the build sheet I don't know of any way you can be 100% certain

The second photo that JEFF posted is my car that I purchased on E-BAY in 2006. The car is silver jade with white interior and has gold and black stripes. I am happy to say after a long 6 year restoration the car is near completion. I just installed a set of N.O.S stripes over the weekend, weird coincidence that JEFF posted one of the actual photos of my car.

I know now for sure - Gold with white center stripe is the way to go with my silver jade / white interior 69 mach 1

I dont have any picture from when my car was new and I dont have the build sheet. The carpet and seats were already out of the car when I bought it.

According to Kevin Marti's " Mustang, By the Numbers" (1967-73), in 1969 an exterior color code 4 (silver jade) with interior color code 3W= (White Interior), 1,300 FB's where produced.  Now, with the 3W Interior, its states "Mach 1/Sports Decor" interior.

FB, I'm thinking includes the Non-Mach 1 Sportsroofs as well....Hope these figures help.

1300 69 FB´s with silver jade / white interior sounds like a good number of cars out there... but how many are left today ?  How many have survived.... ?  I guess nobody knows...

Word usually is around that people at the MCA shows say that anywhere from 2%-10% survival rate of the 72,000 Mach 1's produced in 1969.....But, there's no evidence to that.  I'd say thats probably pretty close....Hope this helps.

So if only 2- 10 % of the whole Classic Mustang production is  " alive"  today ? If thats true , I think its very sad if so few of all the cool 69 Mach 1 are still around today.



I have rescued my own 69 mach 1 from the junk yard - my car deserves a much better destiny so I am restoring it back to show room condition.



Without the Marti rapport on my own 69 Mach  , I would never know that my car came with white interior from the factory. Because the seat which came with my car were black.
