Topic: 1969 Steering Column Lower Cover

OK - Here's my question:  I have two lower cover's one with plastic tabs, and one with metal "spring" tabs.  One is C9ZB-6304459-B AND THE OTHER: C9ZB-63044F08-A.  Does anyone know the difference?  Is one the elusive "tilt column" cover??  Thanks.

I don't recall ever seeing one with plastic tabs. Mine have all had the Metal Spring Tabs on Tilt-Away or Fixed Column.

The Fixed Column Cover has 2 tabs coming off the sides of the end that mounts under the column collar flange.

The Tilt-Away Column Cover has that section 'Cut Away'.

I think he is actually referring to the plastic lower cover that is a finish piece not the wiring cover. Yes there are two different part number ones I have seen and I believe one of them uses additional aluminum spacers between the dash and the column mounting bracket. There are also two versions of the little textured rubber finish piece that goes in front of the instrument bezel and lower cover due to said additional spacers.

I believe it is the Fastback that uses the Additional Spacers between Column Bracket and Dash, IIRC

Attempting to get clarity on this item. 

The 1975 MPC calls out a 6504459 part for coupes and convertibles, and a 6304459 part for fastbacks.  These are both unique to 1969.

There are pictures of the plastic tab version here:  http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=21087.msg132519#msg132519  This part has is stated to be a 63 (fastback) part.  However, embossed in the plastic are BOTH the 63 and 65 part numbers.

The second picture is one with the metal tabs.  I have no other information about it, and forget where I ripped the picture from.  Hand written on the box is the 63 number.

Does anyone know which is which?

On this subject of steering column covers.  Below the part number C9ZB-6504459-C there is a K1, K2, K3 or K4. Are there any differences in a K1, K2, K3, or K4?

Don't believe there is any difference between one marked K1 and the others. My guess would that identified the injection mold the part was made in so that any defects or issue they could narrow down to just one rather than search through all of them
