« on: May 23, 2012, 01:48:06 PM »
Is there a correct clocking of the white stripe on heater hoses at the firewall.

April '64 production, 289 V8, coupe

Thanks.

OK, is it really that stupid of a question or have I just used up my allotment of questions the past few months?

I think he means:  should the stripe be on top, ie, 12 o'clock, or should the stripe be, perhaps be on the bottom side, ie, 6 o'clock?  Or any other position, as viewed from, maybe the front of the car?   Or...?

Believe the stripe is there so the hose doesn't get twisted on installation.  There is mention in Ford docs regarding stripes on the short P/S hoses and how the line should not be twisted, assumed the same thing applied to other hoses with stripes.

Greg, that is indeed what I meant by "clocking".  If I were standing at the front of the car, looking at the heater hoses protruding through the firewall, is there a particular location on a clock face that the white stripe should be "clocked" towards?

Sorry for the vagueness of my question.

So now that the question has been clarified, is there a right or wrong position or just keep the stripe from being twisted?

Thanks.

John

There's no right or wrong on this.
