69 8 inch - 3rd member excavation discovery!

After applying stripper to the third member these two color markings were excavated from under the paint.

The blue stripe I had known to expect, but not the orange daub.  Observation: the orange paint is on each side of the raised area of the axle housing, but not painted across the raised seam.  It would seem that the worker daubed his brush twice on the axle rather than one swipe across the area.  Curious.

Oh, thanks for pointing that out.  I modified the post to show it's a '69 (like yours).
