Need pic of filled out Utica sticker
« on: April 13, 2012, 01:09:04 PM »
I've ordered a "blank" Utica sticker for my 69 vert's top frame but I've actually never seen one installed before.  Anyone have a photo showing how the information would have been filled out?

How much prior to the car's build date might the top frame have been built?

Thanks!

Bill

This is an original sticker from my June, 1969, Dearborn convertible. It doesn't address your question, as the handwriting is no longer visible but the style is different than the one you pictured. Was there more than one sticker, or more than one style? I need an education on Utica stickers.

I've got a few of them - (the narrow version not the square one)  but so far the writing is pretty faint in the pictures. Most appear to be filled out in cursive (for the name) and the date in the MM/DD/YY format in pencil or black pen

Jeff, have you found any names that might be legible?  I would assume something like a first initial and the inspector's last name.  Let me know how your expedition goes!

Re: date.  I had "guessed" that the inspector would have used a date stamp, like the Battery OK decal, so I'm very surprised to hear that both lines were filled out in pen/pencil.

Yes remember - different plant and years often means different methods and practices - just another example

Noting clear enough in my pictures to identify specific names. Looks like Initial followed by last name

First two are late 68's attached on the drivers side of the top = bottom one is a 70, attached to the front header in the middle

Adjusted the contrast as much as I could

Jeff, while this is true for each assembly plant -- since all convertible frames came from Utica, wouldn't methods and practices have remained constant?

Important question:  How much before "build date" would the convertible frame have been dated??

Though they were all made at the same plant practices can change year to year or even month to month. Examples - there were two different versions of paint inspector stamps in 66 at San Jose. three in 67 and three in 68. Filling out of the battery inspection decal at Deaborn changed at least one in 64-66, then changed between 68 and 69. Just a couple of examples ;)

30-45 days in general from the ones I've seen

69 raven conv your square utica decal came from under dash pad & if you look under rh pad above glove box moulded in dash pad coverings where it wrapes around on bottom is UT for utica vender  id.

Thank you, Ed! I've owned this car forever but didn't have the foresight to pay attention to these details when I started working on it 20+ years ago.
