« on: March 22, 2012, 08:48:00 PM »
What is the stock GT350 spare tire? I have Magstars or is it a steel wheel?

If it came originally with Magstars the spare would originally be a Magstar.  The spare was like what the four on the ground were. A little leeway is given when the present owner has documentation that the original owner paid extra for "Deluxe" wheels on a car that came from SA with steel wheels . It was common for dealers to swap around wheels to make a sale. The burden of proof is on the present owner to have reasonable documentation proving that. In those cases it is a reasonable assumption that there was distinct possibility that the spare would not be swap also during a switch and the reason for leeway given. The 67 SAAC registry shows what cars received the deluxe wheels from SA.

Thanks for that Bob. Documentation is difficult due to the second owner being deceased and the original owner's status unknown but presumed deceased. I will review the 67 registry. I also have an Elite Marti coming soon. As far as I know the car came with Magstars. The second owner had purchased a set of 10 spokes that appear to be reproductions. I can't be sure on that. He raced the car so I figured he used the 10 spokes for this. Most all 67-73 cars I have owned did not come with original spares. Don't quite understand why. Thanks again!

Because after 40-45 years of use they are likely to be used up  ;D . Don't feel like you have had bad luck. It is unusual to still have a original spare. More unusual yet to have a unused original spare. ;) The un used looking original type spare is what is expected in concours venues.
