April 64 D code - Engine Bolt Finish Questions
« on: February 25, 2012, 02:11:38 PM »
I saw a similar post in the Boss 302 section which prompted my question in regards to engine bolt finishes.  Can someone please confirm the following...

I have an AMK engine master bolt kit that I am using and the car is a mid-April 1964 production coupe with the D-code 289 cid.

Intake manifold bolts - painted black along with the intake manifold?

Thermostat housing/waterneck and attaching bolts, bypass hose and clamps all black?

I know the MCA rules say the neck, hose and clamps are all black, and I assume the bolts are too; but I also know what happens when I assume anything.  Usually about the same outcome as when I borrow tools, but that's another story...   >:(

Thanks in advance.

John

The end of the water outlet had a "mask" leaving a portion non-painted. A trick is to leave a bit of the un-painted part  showing when the hose is installed.
