Topic: seat tracks, buckets vs bench

I "think" the two seat tracks in the middle are from a bench seat.  As the mount of the studs to the body is differnt (no separate plate, just pressed in the track) and the clip for the spring is differnt, not sure if these are OEM for a Mustang or some other model that was swapped.

Cna anyone verify if these are corect for a Mustang bench seat?

It has been a long time since I did a bench seat but I think they only used the to out side tracks. The tracks with the plats on the bolts are 68 or later and the ones with out were 67 and earlier that used the loose carpet clip. Marty

The two outside ones in the photo are bucket seats for comparison.  The two in the middle are the ones I think are the bench version.

Ok I need to read more carfully. You are right it looks like the passenger side has the bracket for the assist spring witch would make sense on a two track bench seat. They still appear to be 67 style. I have one near by I will try to get a look at. Marty

Will take a look at my Calif Special later this week and report back also - its a bench seat car but of course second half of the year

Did not know of the mount difference 67 to 68, as I have all 68's...

So the 68's did not use the "U" shaped "carpet protector" under the plate on the track originally, and those tracks as shown go straight on the carpet...??

Yes Ford intergrated the carpet clips with the tracks in 68. I am not sure when the change over occured. Marty

Those two inner seat tracks are identical to my original '65 bench seat tracks.  Hope this helps.

I checked the assembly manual today and it clearly shows the return spring and bracket on the passenger side. Marty

I?m having an issue with my bench seat. Passengers side will not remain locked. I?ve patiently tried adjusting the tensioning rod and also tried all six possible hole combinations (3 on passenger side and 2 on drivers side) for where the rod can go with no luck.
So I have two questions if I may?
1. Does anyone know of the correct holes to insert the tension rod to?
2. Does this ?tounge? look broken to you and if so any chance of a picture of an unbroken one?

You apparently are missing a small spring that hooks in the hole in the arm under the yellow circle in your first picture. It goes to a hole in the outer slide towards the rear of the slide. It holds the arm in place when it hooks a slot in the inner slide. The small spring in the second picture is the one. It could have worn out but it looks OK. The good news is that bench seat slide sets are the same as a bucket seat slide set. The installation is shown in the "1966 Mustang Interior Assembly Manual", pg 33.

Thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned that I have the spring but removed it so that I could take the picture. I'll pull the bucket seat from my coupe for a comparison. Thanks for letting me know that they are the same as i assumed that they would be different.
