Coil mounting location for 70 Boss 302
« on: December 17, 2009, 01:15:03 AM »
Do I have coil attached to the correct hole in bracket or should it be attached to the hole on the right  side of coil?

Here are two original examples - both pretty original cars

Hope it helps

Thanks for the pics Jeff and moving the topic to the Boss section. I didn't know there was a Boss section until after I had posted it and then couldn't figure out how to move it.

Where should the engine tag be bolted - under the same bolt head that holds the coil bracket or in the empty hole to the right of the coil?

Sorry I posted the same pic twice - fixed now.

IN both of these examples it was Bolt - tag - coil bracket - head. Have seen the tag to the drivers side of this location on restored cars ;)

Rick
Rick, a related concours note -I would cover what appears to be gasket sealer and black gasket material with some engine block paint . With the sealer showing it gives the impression that the engine was assembled AFTER painting instead of the way it was done at the engine plant when the engine was painted only after the engine was assembled. I only mention it because it will make a apparently excellent job from the picture look even better. Bob

Bob,
I forgot to put the timing chain on and had a 'do over'  ::) I discovered the 'oops' before I put the engine in the bay. I was debating whether to touch it up with some paint. Thanks for the tip!

I think you can brush touchup the areas successfully with the same paint and a small artist brush. I only mentioned it because the surroundings looked sooo good. Bob
