64.5 Trunk Mat Trimming
« on: January 30, 2012, 09:26:51 PM »
Specifically the right hand side. I have a speckled burtex mat from Virginia Classic, how do I cut the mat to access the spare tire mounting bracket. Do I notch out the opening or do what Pete Morgan indicated in an earlier post on '67 mats-

"you will need to cut off the part that comes up off of the gas tank top and covers the trunk floor under the spare tire (the original mats right edge ends where the gas tank edge meets the trunk floor)."

Don't know if this was true of the earlier cars or not.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

Here is a picture of the original trunk mat in my 64 1/2 Dearborn Coupe with a June 8th scheduled production date:

It is the only original one I have seen in a coupe.

Thanks Brant for posting the pic, guess it doesn't get much clearer than that.
