1966 289 belt Part number
« on: January 07, 2012, 04:12:37 PM »
Does anyone have the 289 part number?

This is for a non pwr steering and ac 289. I have potentially located a NOS belt and want to make sure it has the right part number.

Thanks

I'm guessing this is with out Thermactor also ;)

From a Dec 67 catalog (not sure if it has been replaced/updated by that date)

C4TE-8620-S part number- this may not be (normally is not) the same as the engineering number

Length - 40 1/2
Width at top - 15/32

Jeff,
Just for my own curiosity I was trying to look this up.  Would the belt also have like a EB404 or JB404 on it. I was reading in the MPC(1975) that J=V belt, B= 15/32, 404 = 40 1/2. Was just wandering as my belt on my 289 (no ac/te/or ps) has both numbers.
Thanks,
Dave

Would have to look to see if I have dated ones from that period to see. The quick numbering system came into play at some point but right this moment can't remember when the change was

Factory (per 66 Engine Assy Manual, AM0156 pg36) - C4TE-8620-AC, 40.25 X 15/16.
Service (per Ford Car Parts, sec 86.1 pgs 6, 20 & 21) -C9PZ-8620-S, 41 1/4 X 15/32, JB-412.
I think the JB-412 belts were marked with the factory number (C4TE-8620-AC) and are the current selling item. My 65 does have a belt marked C4TE-8620-S but I put that one on at least 15 years ago. Factory is same as 66 (AM155 pg12).
