morning jeff-  yes a/c has the hole with wings for rotating plastic tube.  i'll get under car at left frame rail to check for any rogue holes.  maybe because it's a dealer added vapor system the btm bracket was not welded to floor i'll test fit the one long blk metal bracket i have to see if holes line up with what's on pan currently.  does vapor line run up the tunnel or does it zip up the pass side rocker............

ON the factory installation the return line ran down the driveline tunnel held together (along 3/4 of the way) with the brake line so no extra mounting holes just a different attachment strap.

Runs up the drivers side of the engine compartment, across the firewall behind the engine and down the passenger side to the canister.

Would expect (based on the other brackets) that the welded on brackets were attached to the body with screws in most cases but in the same or similar location to the factory installations to make fitment easier using the Ford parts.

Looks like they converted the 69 base over as the cutout looks lower than70 production and the 2 holes above it????????

there's a 70 cougar bracket on ebay currently.   certainly a bit different than the mustang.  thanks scott for posting the cougar trunk pic.   looks like i do need some kind of btm bracket attached to floor first then the long black bracket mounts to that one.   i see the emission sticker is avail now.   thanks again for the input    david

I just looked thru my 70 shelby kk papers and there is a note about the CA emission cars saying to remove 2 3/4'' off bottom of antenna tube to clear the gas tank and bracket stuff.

Thanks Ed for the note - up kind of late - you need your beauty sleep ;)

Yes that tank has to be changed out or the Calif system would not have anything to attach to not would it fit

purchased from NPD one of those vent lines that attaches to fuel filler pipe and runs thru btm of dropoff and fits into  pass side  frame rail. .  included were  all copies of the tsb retrofit. great info-  but now i'm wondering if i should actually install it.   my shelby  does not have the retrofit holes. i would like to install it but car orig had the calif vapor system in trunk. because of that system did the calif gt500's not need the retrofit  as per the recall.  again my shelby is a 70 gt500 made  june 69 not sold till dec/69.  would it be wrong to have both on car.  it would be a pretty busy trunk!  as long as it wouldn't  be a points deduction i would certainly like to do it.   the 70 version vapor filler pipe  looks like it is a double tube construction.  thanks
