Topic: Tie rod sleeve bolts

I found this sleeve in my parts but not certain of its origin.    Would this bolt be correct for a SJ Oct '65 manual steering car?    Would power steering be different?

Yes, and no. That is the correct bolt if it's 3/8-24X1 3/4in L, 1 1/8in thread length, Gr 5, and if it's on the RH side. The "TR" head marking is what I've got on my cars. I haven't found a Ford part number for that bolt yet. The nut is special nylon center lock type, Ford p/n 373036-S2. The "no" part is the LH is different as the adjusting sleeve is larger. The bolts are Ford p/n 376179-S2, 3/8-24X1 5/8in L with a hex under the head similar to a carriage bolt. The nuts are the same for both sides.
A non-power steering V-8 car uses the same hardware as the RH side on the LH side.

Steve,
They should be 9/16 hex. Even though you have a Shelby, if I may direct your attention to the Library section of this forum to topic "Mustang Hardware Spreadsheet 64-66", and then you should open file "MHW64-66AP04.xlsx", (it lists the hardware by application) and scan down to "Tie Rod Adjusting Sleeve,xx" for more information. There is I-6 and V8 differences, plus manual and power steering differences to contend with.

The 1/2 with the f marking are 67-up style. 9/16 has been addressed.

Not easy to find apparently!  NPD sells the ones for '67 up [the ones I purchased although their catalog says '66 - WRONG again!]. AMK lists the same kit as NPD for the 65-66.  They are 3/8 x 24 but have the 1/2" head with the "F" marking.  I wish these dudes would take the extra effort to market their nuts and bolt correctly like the swell spreadsheet.  AMK marks the bag correctly BUT the sell them for a '66!!!

The bolt, 376179-S2, was also grade 5, without a "recessed" head and had an usual square shoulder under the head to fit the tie rod sleeve clamp, C2VY-3287-A, that had a square locking hole. The adjusting sleeve, C2VY-3310-A, was larger than a standard V-8 sleeve as it was for a pair of 3/4 inch tie rod ends.
All the nuts, 373036-S2, I have do have a round red nylon lock.

Just a fast confirmation on a power steering car...LH side, 'A' marked head on the bolts, RH side, 'TR' marks were there, same as what Jim has on his. I know these to be original to the car as well. I can also confirm that Type F is very red and messy on a white (sealed) garage floor....
