68 turn signal stalk

I am wondering if all 68 original turn signal stalks had this nylon sleeve? Or was used only on the tilt wheel assembly's?

Think its a tilt wheel thing that carried through the years but not certain at this point - just what I've seen

My New Jersey 68 has one...non tilt steering.

Same with my Dearborn coupe, nontilt with a nylon sleeve.

they are used on both but I certainly not expect to see them on all cars. I have no idea why some cars got them and some didn't but more cars did not have them than did

I think they were for the tilt column because of the extra forward force used to release the tilt lock. The nylon reduced the friction. I can see no need for it on a nontilt where it is signal only. As so often the case Ford used what they had on hand to keep the line moving. Marty

April SJ titlt without sleeve. Jan NJ and July Dearborn non tilt without.

Well I found out today that the nylon sleeved stalk was not for the tilt column. When I installed it today the extra diameter of the sleeve would not allow the tilt mechanism to latch.   Marty

i've never tried to fit one on a tilt column but have seen several tilt cars with them on. saw a red KR pulledout of a barn at the des moines show this year that had one and interior was very original. Pete D and I had a converstation about seeing them randomly on 68 shelbys which after 12/1/67 had tilt so thats the majority of them

The nylon style is what was originally on my 70 and 71 cars with tilt ...hmmm
