These are off my wive's 65 vert built Sept 64 in SJ. Has anyone seen the "4N" before?

Believe that represents when the tub (used for making three drivelines) was made. Have maybe six different 64 tube dates but no an N yet - until now. Letter may identify the date (part of the date) or supplier

The stripes are white (closest to end) and purple/lilac.
Is this correct for a C code with C4 and 2.8 gears?
Is there a reference chart anywhere?

No charts available that I know of and the buildsheets don't help in identifying which when where

Is the "purple/lilac" forward of the white stripe?

Do have other examples (C code auto) through 65 with a purple and white and later ones with pink and white.

The term Lavender was typically the name used for the purple or lilac color

So ours is the first "N" officially on record! Our little part of Mustang history! Hehehe.
Yes, Jeff, the Lavender is forward of the white stripe.
Thanks once again for your response.

Yes, Jeff, the Lavender is forward of the white stripe.

That would match the "order" of application on the other examples I've collected and others have shared

Coincidentally the serial number on the driveshaft of my Metuchen plant late July scheduled build '65 matches Jim's (except for the final letter).  My driveshaft stencil is 19078-4N.  It is an "A" code, automatic factory GT car.  I also have the lavender and green stripes on the driveshaft.  I've posted the before and after restoration pictures.

Regards,

Ron

i could be mistaken here but i believe in you 2nd pic the stripe should cover the stenciled number. that number was put on at the tube manufacturer and the stripes added later after determining the shaft application.

The strips were put on "sloppy" with a well used brush by a union worker who was not building a concourse grade car. Ignore the "stenciled" number too.
