Voltage regulator Color
« on: September 25, 2011, 10:57:12 PM »
I cleaned up my voltage regulator and it appears to have black paint on the inside and outside of the cover.  I have seen pictures of similar cars that are blue.  I was wondering what the correct color would be for a 69 Dearborn car 302 2V 3  speed automatic.

Blue .The black was discontinued sometime in very late 67 production from what I have seen. If black the most likely explanation is that it was a earlier transplant. Maybe old service stock . Bob

IF your looking for reproductions I don't think you have many options - think there is only one provider for each.  Though many shops carry them

NPD is showing three different Autolite starter solenoid models for 67-72 they refer to different script codes REPCO,RBM and a plain Autolite, not sure what the difference is.  VA Classic shows just one model.  They are all priced about the same; few bucks difference.  Is it prudent to find and use used ignition parts or should I stick with NOS or reproductions.

Thanks again everybody for the help,

The one your looking for would be the standard style (not sure if anyone is making the heavy duty ones) marked AUTOLITE  - C7.....
