Correct Light Blue Interior Paint
« on: September 03, 2011, 07:30:42 PM »
I am restoring my Mustang Fastback (San Jose 12/64) and the exterior is the code Y Light Silver Metallic Blue.  I am going with a light blue interior and would like to know what is a good paint and texture for the interior?  I have to paint the dash, interior fiberglass panels, etc, etc..  Looking for a paint code to give the painter.
thank you!

NPD Seymour 5748 appears to be correct for light blue interior paint

There wouldn't be a correct light blue for a '65 standard interior, it would be medium blue.  Are you asking for something different other than original, like the later pony interior blue?

my car is also silver blue met.  With Med blue interior  I believe that is teh correct interior blue UNLESS its a GT or you are changing from stock.  For aresol cans I would use NPD theres is VERY close to I found original on my dash, of course this was AFTER I used something else for most of it

Interior paint color changed because its a GT????   Don't think so

With a 12/64 it wouldn't be a GT anyways

If the NPD paint is "Drake", it is very much silver... there was a post here that suggested to use the SEM-paint for a better/ more authentic result as it was a litte bit more blue..

NO NPD is not drake they mix their own, and they used an original paint car to match it.  ITs VERY close to original.

From an email from NPD...

This AP-5747 that you ordered was just re-formulated last year with our paint supplier to match the painted metal from an original door with original paint on it from 1966.  So you should be very satisfied!

this is for MED Blue Metallic

I believe the blue for Pony interior (code 62) were the same, but standard interior differ IMHO.

well the color I ordered matched the original paint color I found on the column and under the dash that had never been touched.  It was a pretty accurate match for med blue metallic...
