64 1/2 trunk floor with drop offs
« on: August 02, 2011, 10:06:04 PM »
I purchased both right and left Dynacorn floor sides with drop offs in September and have been told that there may be an extra hole in them that needs to be welded up.  Does anyone have pictures that they can post to show the exact hole placement for 64 1/2 so that I can compare to the pair that I purchased.  Any and ALL help greatly appreciated.

Will wait for someone else to confirm but I would think their might be a hole for the back up lights in the reproductions that would need to go away.

Thanks for the reply.  Hope someone can confirm and tell me or show by publishing a picture exactly which hole needs to be welded up.

That's right Jeff, anddddd ...
There's another round hole at the front of the dropoffs for something? that hole also has a 1/4" square hole just above that round hole.
Then there's 3 little lumps about the size of a kidney bean that neads to be worked out for a 65 or 66.

The biggest problem you'll have with them is...the bottom flange is about 5/8 to 3/4 too short to reach the bottom of the quarter panel pinch welds.  The only way to make it right is to add metal to lengthen the flanges before you start to put them in.

Sounds like they are making a "one size fits all" part :(

Those would be for the 67-up drains that were located in the trunk drop rather than the bottom of the quarter on 64-66

I will pick up the parts at the body shop tomorrow and see if I understand exactly what holes that you are referring to.   Once I get the actual part in front of me I may have to post a picture with an X through the holes that need to be filled--don't want to make a mistake.
 Thanks for your help.

If I remember right, 64 1/s's don't have backup lights so there are no holes in them.

That's not right, they were an option from the beginning of production.

My 64 1/2 does have backup lights.
I have attached two jpg files showing the right and left trunk floors with drop offs. Each side is numbered.  If possible please reference the holes by number I need to have plugged up.  Never posted photos before so hope they work.

That's the 67-8 style drop-off.

Thanks Charles

I thought I was ordering the correct items which were
1 x 64½-70 Trunk Floor, LH (DC-3649F)
1 x 64½-70 Trunk Floor, RH (DC-3649E

NPD has 65-68 trunk floor that says cut for 69-70.  Would that been the correct ones to order for 64 1/2?
If you a better source or  suggestions it would be greatly appreaciated.

I don't think there are any trunk floors that are made specifically for 65-66.  You'll most likely need to purchase the ones noted and modify them to be correct for your car.

It's my understanding that I can accomplish this by welding up some of the holes in the ones that I purchased.  I just don't know which ones to weld up.

I'm almost positive that ALL the holes on the VERTICAL walls of both dropoffs need to be welded up and 1 correct size hole redrilled in the right location for your backup light wires.

You will also need to add about 1" of metal all along the lower edge of the vertical walls, or they will be too short.
