Black-out of mounting tabs on 1967 wide grille molding?
« on: June 29, 2011, 06:21:28 PM »
I have found some original wide (C7ZZ-8190 & 8191 -A) moldings have the mounting tabs "blacked-out" with spray paint and others that are not blacked out. Is this correct?

Are you referring to (lacking a picture) the aluminum wide grill opening moldings and their mounting tabs hidden by the smaller/thin molding at the front of the grill opening?

I don't recall every seeing those tabs blacked out - and since they are not seen it does not seem to match other practices Ford did but willing to see examples

Yes, the wide aluminum grille moldings up front. I've seen a few pairs with no black-out paint on the tabs and several pair with black-out paint applied. None of the cars I removed them from were painted black, thus I don't believe this was due to a repaint. :-)
